The Colts (Vocal Group)

The Colts is an Afro-American doo-wop, vocal group from Bakersfield, California. The group's original line-up consisted of four members: lead singer - Ruben Grundy; his brother, Joe Grundy; Carl Moland; and, later, Leroy Smith.
==History==

The Colts emerged from Bakersfield, and started performing as a group while attending L.A. City College in East Hollywood, Los Angeles County in 1955. The Colts are best known for their popular singles such as "Adorable," which created a buzz in Los Angeles and also in New York. The "Adorable" single reached the top of the Cashbox's R&B Singles chart, in LA during the 1950s. Other popular singles by ''The Colts'' included "Never No More," "Sweet Sixteen," "Honey Bun," "Oh, When You Touch Me," "I Never Knew," and "Guiding Angel."〔(The Colts, MTV Bio ) www.mtv.com 05-16-2015 Retrieved May 18, 2015〕The group is also known for their many compilation appearances. In the 1980s the Colts featured on the ''Golden Era of Doowop'' compilation. They also appeared on the 1980s mix-tape, ''The Best of Vita Records'', and many more. The Colts were the first of two black vocal groups to come out of from Bakersfield California; the other group was The Paradons. The Colts are among the first West Coast Doowop vocal groups documented out of Kern County that were active and formed around the same time as the Bakersfield Sound, in the mid-1950s.
